First impressions count. In an interview what you say is as important as how you say it.
Interview skills to help you succeed can be learnt. We are experienced coaches and can get you ‘match fit’ for your interview. We’ll teach you simple easy-to-remember techniques that will guide you on the day.
What makes a successful interview?
A successful interview goes beyond the ‘question, answer; question, answer’ format and develops its own flow like a conversation. Through a conversation, your personality and motivation show through as you build a rapport with your interviewers.
We believe that focussed preparation combined with the knowledge that you have the qualities and skills to succeed in the role you’ve applied for, are vital to your success.
It’s all about the ‘stories’ you tell and the manner in which you tell them.
We help you to:
- Identify your ‘stories’, and
- Tell them in a way that will engage your interviewers.
How do we help?
We work with you to identify your competencies and match them to the level required of the job.
Most interviews in New Zealand are behavioural-based. They examine competencies required to succeed in the role.
We’ll work with you to:
- Understand the job description to identify what the employer is looking for and the desired competencies.
- Explain the behaviourally based interview process.
- Guide you through interview questions that are either typically asked or in the case of a specific role, competency based questions.
- Role play the interview.
- Coach you on presentation and body language.
“Kevin provided me with some great advice and practical techniques I could use ahead of an internal recruitment process as part of a restructuring. It involved interviews and an external assessment
centre process. Kevin told me what I could expect, helped me frame my experience to clearly demonstrate the competencies and attributes they were seeking for the role, and generally got me into ‘interview mode.’
It worked! I’m sure the modest cost of a few hours of Kevin’s time is one of the best investments I’ve made in myself.”
